Yama River

Yama River begins on the Olsky Plateau and flows into the Sea of Okhotsk. Its name fits perfectly: this is one of the richest fishing waters in the game. Chum salmon, coho, malma, and kundzha enter it to spawn. Current cafe orders and timers are shown below.

Yama River: Salmon kingdom and high-energy spinning

Advice for beginners: spinning marathon
Get ready for one of the most active sessions in your career. On Yama, fish bites almost all along the banks, and the intensity keeps you moving all the time.

Gear:
Your heavy reel from the Ostrog pike days comes back into play here. Heavy lures cast far even with powerful setups.

Tactic (Active farm):
Use Tunguska mice, spoons, or topwaters. Coho, chum, steelhead, masu salmon, sockeye, and both lenok species are all on the menu. If you want variety, match tackle also works for float fishing on the same species.

Be careful:
Local fish is very strong, so prepare for powerful runs.

For experienced anglers: kaluga and chinook
For advanced RF4 players, Yama is a testing ground for lure selection and giant hunting.
  • Trophy hunt: To close a specific species, you often need to cycle through many lures to find the current preference.
  • Heavyweights: With top tackle, you can sit out for giant kaluga or fight trophy chinook on a strong spinning setup.
  • Rarities: Collectors will find two lamprey species here, plus rare Neiva and Levanidov char.

Why visit the cafe?
The cafe on Yama is one of the most comfortable in the game because many orders close naturally during your normal fishing routine.
  • What to turn in: Chum, malma, grayling, and kundzha are almost always in demand.
  • Benefit: The keepnet fills very fast here, which makes it easy to complete several cafe orders in a single session.
